If you want to understand how Kaffe's JIT calls C functions, you will probably want to take a look at the places in kaffe/kaffevm/kaffe.def that have calls to C functions begin with the characters "softcall". The file kaffe/kaffevm/jit/icode.c file contains all the "softcall" functions. Each "softcall" function generates the code to set up the argument list and call a specific C function from the JIT generated machine language. All these softcall functions call another function in icode.c, call_soft(), which generates the actual call in the translated code. I hope that this helps you with your modifications. -Will Cohen > > > On Jun 20, 1999, Samarjeet S Tomar wrote: > > > How can we modify prologue and epilogue to call a C method at the two > > points to instrument the execution time of methods ? > > Try `grep -r prologue kaffe' :-) > > kaffevm/jit/icode.c and config/sparc/jit-sparc.def seem like good > starting points. > > -- > Alexandre Oliva http://www.dcc.unicamp.br/~oliva IC-Unicamp, Bra[sz]il > {oliva,Alexandre.Oliva}@dcc.unicamp.br aoliva@{acm.org,computer.org} > oliva@{gnu.org,kaffe.org,{egcs,sourceware}.cygnus.com,samba.org} > *** E-mail about software projects will be forwarded to mailing lists > >
