JAXP seems to be doing quite good in the XML part these days. There was 
some work by Chris & others to make it very good on the test suites, 
check out their mailing list archives for details.

It didn't work for me when I tried buildig it, because of a missing 
CORBA file in Kaffe. See 
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.corba.jacorb.devel/3039 for details. 
  I didn't investigate further, maybe it would work better with jikes vs 
having to modify the build files for kjc.
