I ran jlint over kaffe's class libraries and it
complained about clone being NULL if super.clone()
failed, and it being used to set instance fields
nevertheless.

Despite the comment that says "can't happen" I felt it
was safer to move the code working on the cloned
object inside the try/catch block.
