[kaffe] Can't access manifest ...

This could be a stupid question, but I can't get kaffe to work properly on .jar files. It says that no manifest could be accessed.
Example:
Can't access manifest in ``hsqldb.jar'': java.util.zip.ZipException: no data
If do that with java in my win32 PC all goes smoothly.
What's the point here? What am I missing? If there is a more appropriate place to post this (maybe) silly questions just tel me...
