[kaffe] memory management / gc

Although it is hard to answer your question with the information you
provide, I would say that fragmentation could cause that.
Keep in mind that Kaffe's collector doesn't move any objects.

As to how to use your memory more efficiently, I would look for 
memory leaks in the program.
