What's the value of newLength passed by
org.apache.tools.ant.util.SourceFileScanner.restrict() ?

No, _OR_ new buffer length ...
But this case is handle by ensureCapacity(x, false) so:
boolean newBuf = ensureCapacity(newLength, isStringized);
Could you test that with Ant ?
