It seems as though Sun/Javasoft tries to support 1.x features
(as long as you don't use both 1.0 and 1.1 in the same app of
course), and browsers linger, and some platforms are still
trying to get a 1.0.x off the ground, etc.

2.x is probably when obsolete 1.x stuff should the bit bucket.
