Assert Failure on RedHat 5.0

When I try to do anything with the javac or kaffe executable on Linux
Redhat 5.0 I get the error:

No library path set.
kaffe: gc-mem.c:175: gc_heap_malloc: Assertion `(uintp)mem >= (uintp)blk && (uintp)mem < (uintp)blk + gc_pgsize' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)

This is my first attempt at using kaffe.  I have my classpath set to
the classes.zip file that was installed with guavac.  Has anyone seen
this before?
